Nico Rosberg won the Formula 1, Spanish Grand Prix 2015 at the Circuit de Barcelona on Sunday afternoon by defeating Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton.
The Circuit de Barcelona, formerly known as the Circuit de Catalunya, is not a strange place for the teams of Formula one race who have been racing on these tracks since 1991. They also use this venue extensively for conducting tests.
But familiarity to this track does not reduce the challenge for the drivers as well as their cars as they have to be prepared to face the bumpy and abrasive track with the combination of high and low-speed corners in Barcelona. They have to find out the best set up for these races as the winds cutting across the venue and highly wearing tyres can greatly affect their potential. Still Michael Schumacher had won this race six times and became the most successful driver at this venue. Barcelona hosted Formula One for the 24th time in 2014 in which Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen, Lewis Hamilton, Felipe Massa and Sebastian Vettel were the main contenders. Lewis Hamilton won Formula 1 race in that season.
The Spanish Grand Prix 2015 was won by Nico Rosberg at Circuit de Barcelona. He defeated his team mate Lewis Hamilton who performed poorly from start to finish and stood second. But Sebastian Vettel completed this race at third position whereas Valtteri Bottas remained in fourth position. Hamilton suffered due to his slow start and remained behind Sebastian Vettel in most for the race but later on secured second position by using the strategies of a racing champion. It was another miserable day for McLaren and Jenson Button who finished in 16th position whereas Fernando Alonso had to retire due to a problem with his brakes.
Nico Rosberg was confident about his victory this season at the Spanish Grand Prix as he targeted at it throughout his practice session. His teammate Lewis Hamilton, the driver of a Mercedes car, was unable to maintain his form and the reigning champion has to be satisfied with second place at Sunday’s race. But he is still a strong contender in the battle for the championship due to his performance and the strategies used by him in this Formula 1 race. Though Hamilton’s performance was poor from the start of the race and was delayed during his first pit-stop, he still he succeeded to remain among top two finishers in last 12 Spanish Grand Prix races. Sebastian Vettel from Ferrari, on the other hand had to be satisfied with third position in this race.
Nico Rosberg used the cockpit of his Mercedes for musical celebration for his win at Circuit de Barcelona on Sunday afternoon with his pregnant wife. His wife Vivian, who attended the first season of this race, was congratulated along with the other team members by Lewis Hamilton, who finished second. Though he was not so excited but still he behaved graciously while congratulating the winning team.
The results of this Spanish Grand Prix season have proved that the fight for this title is not a closed issue. Anyone can win Formula 1 at the Circuit de Barcelona if he is committed to it.
